Prospective Weekend Recap

Welcome to our Home!

In many ways, Prospective Weekend is that wonderful opportunity for the NCF family to invite others into our home and see what we do. In addition to the eleven students from eight states, we also welcomed Angelina Stanford, prolific author, speaker and co-host of the Close Reads podcast.

On Thursday evening and Friday afternoon, students and faculty engaged Ms. Stanford on topics of culture, literature and life in general. On Friday evening, and as our official opening event of the Prospective Weekend, Ms. Stanford expounded on the importance of redemption in story in her nearly two-hour lecture “From the Odyssey to the Avengers: How to Understand Every Story.”

On Saturday, we welcomed students and families into the classroom with presentations by faculty Dr. Jonathan Rogers, Mr. Caleb Faires, Mrs. Allison Burr and Mr. Brandon Spun. As a community, we enjoyed lunch together and toured the downtown Franklin area. Most importantly, throughout the weekend, we made new friendships and connected with several who will likely make up the next generation of New College Franklin students and graduates.

Note: If you missed Angelina Stanford’s lecture, which was not recorded at NCF, you can purchase it from the CiRCE Institute.
